Juliette Saville – Psychodynamic Counsellor – Ages 16 upwards MBACP (Accredited)
The adolescent years are challenging for all young people, yet some find them harder to navigate than others. I offer a safe space to all of secondary school age and above to explore difficult situations, emotions, thought patterns and behaviours.
Just some of the issues I have worked with are; relationship difficulties, adjusting to change and loss, confusion over identity, withdrawal due to social anxiety and/or depression, suicidal ideation, stress due to studies and using alcohol, drugs, self-harm, excessive exercising or dieting as a way to cope.
As well as working with young people privately, I have spent 5 years counselling in many educational settings and a GP practice, supporting adolescents to get in touch with their feelings, make sense of their situation and find positive new ways to build resilience and a greater sense of wellbeing.
Alongside my Diploma and Foundation Degree in Psychodynamic Counselling and Practice, I hold a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling Young People and an enhanced DBS certificate.
Working with parents/families:
Parenting can be both rewarding and challenging. Nothing can really prepare one for the rollercoaster ride that it is and there is no instruction manual. Just as one gets used to a stage in their child’s development, they change, presenting their parent(s) with more issues to manage.
Sometimes family situations and dynamics can create challenging behaviour and confusion among its members leaving parent(s) worried sick or completely floored. It can create strong reactions leaving all parties ashamed and/or doubly confused.
I offer a safe space to explore what could be going on underneath both the young person and the parent’s behaviour. It can lead to developing new ways to be with each other, allowing relationships to repair and move forwards.
I began supporting parents in their tough role of parenting in 2009 having been trained by a national parenting charity to work with individuals, couples and groups; then, in 2013 as a counsellor for the Child and Family Service of a large county wide Counselling organisation.
In addition to my private practice, I currently work in the Wellbeing Service of 2 universities, as a Specialist Mentor. Prior to my counselling training I spent almost 20 years supporting adults and young people emotionally, practically and therapeutically in the mental health field.

I work from a comfortable and quiet consulting room near the centre of Stroud. It is in close walking distance from the town centre and there is off road parking – during busy times, it is possible to park near the nearby hospital.
