Umbrella Therapies

Saira Todd Arts Psychotherapist (BAAT) – Ages 8 – 25

Saira Todd - Art Therapist

Arts psychotherapy is a form of talking therapy that uses the creative process and different art forms to help explore thoughts and feelings. Young people have different tastes and preferences so I offer different ways of exploring those thoughts and feelings: a sand tray, painting and drawing, clay, music, roleplay, and writing, as well as talking.

Being creative and making things can help people understand their feelings and experiences especially when words are hard to find. Sometimes when a difficulty has been drawn or made into an object and is right there in front of us, it is easier to talk about.

ANYONE CAN MAKE ART THAT MEANS SOMETHING AND NO ONE HAS TO BE ‘GOOD’ AT IT!

I have an MA in Integrative Arts Psychotherapy. I work with children, adolescents and their parents, and individual adults in various settings including the NHS, a counselling charity, schools and in private practice. I worked in the creative and performing arts for many years before retraining as an arts psychotherapist. I am registered with the Health and Care Professions Council and am a member of the British Association of Art Therapists (BAAT) and the UK Council for Psychotherapy. I abide by these organisations’ codes of ethical conduct and am fully insured and DBS registered.

Fees: After a free exploratory telephone conversation I offer a sliding scale between £55 and £65 per session that the client decides, taking account of what is sustainable for their family and financial circumstances.

Location: I work in a studio in the Victoria Works, London Road, Chalford, GL6 8HN, situated on the A419 between Stroud and Cirencester. There is free parking in the surrounding area and the Lavender Bakehouse is next door!
